Director of Key Accounts & Business Development

Position Snapshot

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Level Business Development and Key Account Director who will develop new business opportunities and manage our key accounts to ensure their long-term success. The role is to manage a portfolio of assigned customers, develop new business from existing clients and actively seek new opportunities ranging from big box retailers, small-to-medium sized retail chains, as well as boutiques, salons, dermatologist, and pediatrician offices. This is a relatively new position, and we are looking for an experienced self-starter with a proven track record to help us develop and build our US market.

We are a privately held Multi-National Organization looking for an experienced and passionate Business Development & Key Account Executive to join our leadership team in our Los Angeles based Global Headquarters. Today we are the world’s leader and largest manufacturer of ear piercing instruments, studs, and supplies. With 30+ offices worldwide, we strive to provide customers with the highest quality products, as well as marketing and sales assistance to sustain their success.

The job description involves nurturing and developing relationships with strategically important Key accounts and represents the organizations entire range of products and services to assigned Key accounts, while leading the key account overall strategy and ensuring assigned customers’ needs and expectations are met and aligned with our organization’s goals and expectations. This includes acquiring additional revenue streams from existing accounts as well as acquiring new customers who can benefit from our product and service offerings.

Responsibilities include:

Responsibilities include developing strong relationships with customers, connecting with key business executives and stakeholders, and preparing progress and sales reports. The ideal candidate will liaise between customers and cross-functional internal teams, ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and improve the entire customer experience. The ideal candidate can identify customer needs and exceed client expectations.

Ultimately, this role will report to the President and CEO and is expected to collaborate with our internal teams including our international affiliate offices to improve and grow our business.

  • Operating as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to your customers
  • Develop and maintain strong, productive, long-lasting, professional trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executive sponsors
  • Negotiating account management contracts and agreements to maximize profit
  • Proactively leads a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and time specified milestones
  • Coordinates the involvement of internal company personnel, including support, service, production, marketing and management resources in order to meet strategic objectives
  • Leads by example and takes ownership and accountability for a solution based approach to making us a customer centric best in class organization, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel including our international affiliate offices
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives
  • Communicate clearly the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
  • Forecast and track key account metrics (e.g. quarterly sales results and annual forecasts)
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events
  • Develops and implements strategic sales/marketing plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services
  • Plans and oversees advertising and promotions activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail
  • Oversee our eCommerce and social media channels
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners
  • Cultivate and deepen client relationships and partnership that add value
  • Conduct market research and identify new opportunities
  • Monitor and report competitors’ marketing and sales activities

Key Account Manager Requirements

  • Proven 7+ years’ work experience as an account or business development executive or other relevant experience. Experience with Big Box Retailers is a major plus.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Solid experience with CRM software and MS Office (particularly MS Excel)
  • Experience in preparing and delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs
  • Proactive and self-motivated with proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience managing a team and collaborating with additional stakeholders in the business
  • Marketing experience preferred
  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution
  • Ideally based in our Los Angeles headquarters and must be willing to travel
